Green Stream Farms grows its algae on lined pools dotting its property off of state Highway 9. Rich in Omega-3 nutrients, the harvests are used in livestock feed and nutritional consumer products, according the state Economic Development Department.

The company acquired the facility from Sapphire Energy, which built the farm as a biorefinery, and assumed operations in 2019.

With the business planning to double production, requiring additional construction and equipment for added harvesting and processing, the department has awarded the company a $250,000 grant from the state’s Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) fund.
